Group to provide research/guidance on the top PLM issues affecting airplane manufacturers, major defense OEMs, and Tier 1 suppliers
ANN ARBOR, Michigan, 20 March 2014—CIMdata, Inc the leading global PLM strategic management consulting and research firm announces the formation of its newest PLM member service—the Aerospace & Defense PLM Action Group, an association of aerospace and defense (A&D) companies within CIMdata’s globally recognized PLM Community Program. The group is an industry-specific PLM advocacy group as well as a defining organization for unfulfilled common interest PLM-related capabilities. The group will also sponsor collaborative research on prioritized industry and technology topics. Membership is open to A&D OEM companies and select Tier 1 suppliers.
Peter Bilello, President of CIMdata, stated, “PLM solution providers continually deliver new products, architectures, and solutions to market, while industrial customers must cope with previous product launches, attempting to realize the value from existing PLM investments. The Aerospace & Defense PLM Action Group will define and direct the research efforts on key areas needed to meet future challenges. Current experiences with PLM-related implementations, best practice research, and close examination of emerging technologies will help define what the PLM solution providers should be offering.”
Participation in the CIMdata-led Aerospace & Defense PLM Action Group offers:
- Access to ongoing research, analyses, insights, and advice important to airplane manufacturers.
- Participation in the identification of industry-specific PLM topic areas.
- A uniform voice to the PLM Solution Provider community to better enable and guide them in their development efforts.
- Access to CIMdata’s PLM Knowledge Council domain experts.
- An interactive and collaborative environment for accessing and sharing PLM related processes and best practices.
- Participation in the CIMdata’s global PLM Community
The Aerospace & Defense PLM Action Group will be led by James L. Roche, CIMdata Senior Consultant and A&D Practice Manager who brings extensive industry experience and on-the-ground knowledge to the group. Jim stated, “CIMdata’s A&D Value Gap Survey, reported on last year, provides ample evidence and insight into the declining return on PLM investment within A&D and the need to develop new strategies for fulfilling future needs, and that is the central purpose of this group.”
