Thomas Barre
Thomas Barre, Semantic Mapping Leader, Airbus
Thomas Barre began his career at Airbus in 2002 as a design engineer, working on fuel and hydraulic systems for the A340-500. He quickly advanced, becoming an engineering team leader for the A400M Center Wing Box from 2003 to 2005. In this role, he was responsible for leading a team in the design and installation of fuel and inerting systems, as well as managing multicultural relationships with other Airbus sites.
From 2016 to 2017, Thomas served as a Business Performance Manager for the Plant Engineering Teams, where he managed budgets and defined key performance indicators (KPIs) for various programs, including the A330, A380, and A350. Following this, he served as a digital transformation leader, defining and deploying digital strategies for the company's Nose & Center Fuselage programs.
Since July 2017, Thomas has served as the semantic mapping leader for the "Continuity" CTO project. In his current role, he supports the electrical domain's data modeling, ensures the creation of the ISO/IEC 81346 standard for aircraft, and promotes system engineering and enterprise architecture modeling. He also works with SAFe agile methods, having received certification as a Scrum Master and Product Owner.
Thomas holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Toulouse (INSA Toulouse). Before joining Airbus, he completed an internship at Astrium Ltd (now part of Airbus Defence and Space), where he worked on satellite mechanisms. His experience highlights his proficiency in engineering, project management, and business strategy, with a strong focus on fostering innovation and digital continuity within a complex corporate environment.
