Open Text Introduces First U.S. Department of Defense-Certified Records Management Solution For Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
Open TextT Corporation announced another "first" in its continued leadership in delivering solutions with Microsoft: The company is the first to receive records management certification with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 under the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) 5015.2 certification program. With Open Text's introduction of the new offering in early March, the company will again be first-to-market with a solution that integrates with the latest Microsoft applications.
The certification is unique because it was the combined offering of Open Text's records management with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 that passed the rigorous certification process. Open Text had the solution tested with SharePoint Server 2007, showing that it could declare content stored in SharePoint Products and Technologies as a record, thereby applying records management policies and managing the entire lifecycle of the information.
The announcement demonstrates the continued close relationship between Open Text and Microsoft to offer solutions that address the increasing business, legal and regulatory risks of documents, emails and other types of content. The solution is the first in a series of new capabilities and extensions Open Text will be rolling out for the new 2007 Microsoft Office system over the next few months. The combination of technologies from the two companies will allow customers to build solutions that make optimal use of the collaboration and productivity benefits of Microsoft, with Open Text's Livelink ECM solutions for managing information through complex business and compliance processes.
Since announcing a strategic relationship with Microsoft in 2005, Open Text has continued to introduce a steady stream of products that build on and extend Microsoft applications. Recently, Open Text was named the 2006 Microsoft Global ISV Partner of the Year.
"With its ECM solutions leadership and its ability to quickly adopt the latest Microsoft technologies, Open Text continues to demonstrate why it is such a valuable Microsoft partner," said Rob Bernard, General Manager of the Worldwide ISV Group at Microsoft Corp. "Our close alliance offers customers the best in collaboration and content management solutions, and the ability to gain greater value from their investments in our technologies."
"This latest DoD certification is a major accomplishment and an important step in continuing our strong relationship with Microsoft," said Kirk Roberts, Executive Vice President of Products, Solutions and Marketing at Open Text. "A key strategic focus for us is to complement the latest Microsoft technologies with powerful new ECM solutions. That focus has allowed us to again be first-to-market with a fully certified records management solution for Microsoft's powerful new Office SharePoint Server 2007."
Open Text was the first to receive the DoD's certification for classified records, called Chapter 4 certification, in 2002. In November, 2006, Open Text announced DoD certifications for Livelink ECM - Records Management for use with SAP® Solutions and Livelink ECM - Microsoft SharePoint Integration (2003), as well as recertification for Livelink ECM - Records Management. Open Text records management software is also certified under the United Kingdom's TNA regulations and Australia's VERS regulations.
