Proficiency Appoints Alex Shapira Chief Executive Officer

Proficiency, Inc . announced that it has appointed Alex Shapira as the new chief executive officer of the company. His primary goal will be to lead the company into a phase of high growth.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Mr. Richard Riff, Henry Ford Technical Fellow, said, "We are confident that under Alex's leadership, Proficiency will take product data interoperability to a new level required by the tremendous growth of engineering information exchange and the challenges of globalization. With the right vision and execution, Proficiency, headed by Alex, provides innovative solutions to stringent market needs, positioning it as the supplier of choice in this area."

"I'm excited about the future opportunities for Proficiency and looking forward to working with our customers, partners and employees to achieve the financial and operational goals of our company," said Alex Shapira. "Proficiency will continue to invest in the development of its market-leading technology."

Mr. Shapira has 20 years of experience in Digital Manufacturing, CAD/CAM, real-time production management and mission-critical defense systems. Alex Shapira brings executive management and leadership to Proficiency. Before joining the company, Shapira was vice president of production management at UGS, a leader in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and executive vice president for product operations at Tecnomatix, the market leader in Digital Manufacturing.

A key factor that led Shapira to accept the position with Proficiency is the company's outstanding patented technology, which addresses the problem of feature-based CAD interoperability previously considered unsolvable. The company brings great value to its customers who need to preserve the original design intent when migrating to a new CAD platform and for efficient supply chain Multi-CAD collaboration, where protecting design intellectual property becomes critical.

Proficiency is now geared to broaden its market reach globally. The company's customers increasingly demand complete solutions, including the support of entire workflows integrated into the PLM environment. To accelerate growth, Proficiency will extend its partnerships with selected engineering companies globally.

Shapira holds a BSEE from the Technion in Israel, a M.Sc. in Computer Science from the Bar-llan University and an International Executive MBA from Kellogg-Recanati, Northwestern University of Chicago and Tel-Aviv University.
