Certeon Speeds Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Environments; Application Acceleration Innovator Certeon Partners with UGS, a Leader in Maximizing the Value of PLM Deployments

Certeon announced its entrance into accelerating product lifecycle management (PLM) with the availability of its new S-SeriesT Application Acceleration BlueprintT for Solid EdgeT software. The Certeon Application Acceleration Blueprint for Solid Edge, brought about through a new partnership with UGS, works in conjunction with Solid Edge Insight, the built-in design management capability of Solid Edge within PLM environments. By deploying Certeon technologies, Solid Edge Insight customers can reduce download and assembly times of large design files to a matter of seconds-an improvement of 1,000 percent.

The need for digital collaboration and content delivery between distant groups has increased dramatically among the manufacturing companies that rely heavily on collaborative CAD software for PLM environments. Often remote locations must connect over wide area networks (WANs) to access the central data repository, but network latency can significantly bog down design operations in this situation.

Because it has specific knowledge of the application data at the object level, Certeon's Application Acceleration Blueprint for Solid Edge Insight allows manufacturing organizations to maximize PLM and network infrastructure investments, speed decision making, avoid costly design rework, and increase productivity and profitability.

"Solid Edge provides a competitive advantage that our customers rely on; but customers working from distributed locations over a wide area network may not be able to take full advantage of that," said Dan Staples, Solid Edge's director of product development. "Certeon's S-Series maintains the competitive advantage that centrally located customers enjoy by accelerating Solid Edge to remote locations and eliminating the need for additional network bandwidth."

Certeon has added UGS as a Complementary Technology Partner to its Acceleration Partners program and has also become a UGS Voyager Software Partner. These partnerships are designated for leadership companies that offer complementary technologies or services. Because Solid Edge designs are large CAD files that are burdensome to the network, Certeon's S-Series appliances are a natural fit to alleviate the stress on the network and speed application access for UGS customers. Hubbell Lighting and Ideal Aerosmith are the first two customers to benefit from this partnership and deploy Certeon's S-Series Appliances with the Application Acceleration Blueprint for Solid Edge Insight to speed design downloads over the WAN.

"Solid Edge design files contain some of the most important data in the possession of a manufacturing company," said Gareth Taube, vice president of worldwide marketing for Certeon. "Slow application response and download times can impede the use of this data and therefore slow the development of new products and PLM deployments. Application Acceleration Blueprint for Solid Edge Insight uses a unique technique to speed application response time and maximize the deployment of each design."

The Certeon S-Series Appliances featuring an Application Acceleration Blueprint for Solid Edge Insight are available immediately. Certeon offers three models of Application Acceleration Appliances: the S-1000, S-2000, and S-3000, supporting small branch offices, regional offices and large data centers, respectively. Pricing for the S-Series appliances ranges from $6,000 to $35,000. In addition to the Solid Edge Insight Blueprint, Certeon also has Application Acceleration Blueprints for the 2007 Microsoft® OfficeT, SharePoint®, and Exchange Server platforms, as well as SharePoint and Office 2003.

In support of its work with the PLM industry, Certeon will be exhibiting in booth #3505 at the Pacific Design and Manufacturing Show , February 13-15, 2007 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
