AVEVA, the leading supplier of engineering IT systems for the plant and marine industries, is proud to announce that international drilling and production contractor - Larsen Oil & Gas will use AVEVA Marine solutions to design and construct the world's largest jack-up platform.
Larsen Oil & Gas, which has offices worldwide, specialises in the development, construction and operation of semi-submersibles and jack-up drilling platforms, FPSOs and mobile combined drilling and production platforms. In mid 2007, a company within the Larsen group, PetrolProd Ltd., signed contract with Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd of Singapore for the construction of the jack-up platform at a cost of approximately USD 440 million.
Geir Eik, Technical Manager of Larsen Oil & Gas, said: "We need the solid engineering IT solutions provided by AVEVA Marine especially in this highly complex project. The platform which will be simultaneously used for drilling and production in water depths to 150 meters in harsh environments has to comply with rules and regulations of the stringent Norwegian sector. There is no margin for error."
Peter Finch, President of AVEVA Asia Pacific, said:"AVEVA Marine's integrated suite of design and production applications will deliver the efficiency, accuracy and collaboration needed to complete a project of this magnitude and complexity within the demanding project schedule."
