Changde Tobacco Machinery Selects PTC® Windchill® as Product Data Management Standard
PTC, the Product Development Company®, announced today that Changde Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd, China's leading tobacco machinery manufacturer, has selected Windchill as its corporate standard for product data management. Windchill is PTC's content and process management solution and Changde Tobacco will adopt the solution to manage the product development process for its product line.
To better support business growth and its product development needs, Changde Tobacco decided to evaluate its product lifecycle management (PLM) processes and supporting technology. Ultimately, Changde Tobacco wanted to reduce product research and development (R&D) cycle time and minimize duplicate design while maintaining high product quality and innovative capabilities.
The desired solution would also effectively manage product data generated from engineering and BOM, and accelerate the product availability on the market. In addition, Changde Tobacco needed a single system that would centrally manage many disparate IT systems (MCAD/CAPP/ERP) within the company, thus alleviating the data woes that have been plaguing its R&D and documentation. The solution was supposed to offer agile support to these disparate IT systems.
The implementation of Windchill will enable Changde Tobacco to tackle its data problems. The solution also supports the manufacturer's strategic goals in product quality, availability and innovation, achieving synchronization between Changde Tobacco and its R&D, manufacturing and marketing partners. This will further enhance Changde Tobacco's collaboration with its suppliers and clients in operational planning, strengthening its supply chain responsiveness, competitive advantages and resistance to market risks.
