Automotive Supplier Revs Up Supply Chain with Infor Solution

Infor announced that Decoma International, Inc. has deployed Infor ERP TRANS4M in a just-in-time environment at its new Toledo, Ohio facility. Decoma is a division of Magna International, Inc., one of the world's largest automotive industry suppliers, and TRANS4M has a track record of success at other Magna facilities. Decoma, which manufactures exterior vehicle appearance systems, selected the solution for its integrated electronic data interchange (EDI), financials and general ledger, and custom programming support capabilities.

TRANS4M's EDI functionality enables the company to meet major OEM requirements and realize cost-savings by eliminating a value-added network. Infor's integrated solution provides Decoma with a comprehensive view across its operations in areas such as sales, marketing, manufacturing, financials, and service.

"We were looking for a common system with deep automotive functionality," said Steve Sass, IT manager, Decoma . "Infor's robust solution is geared directly for the automotive market and has the flexibility, security, visibility and intuitive interface we need for day-to-day users."

The cost of implementation and rapid installation timelines were also key factors in Decoma's decision to select Infor. The entire project took just five months and met the company's budget requirements.

"More than ever, automotive manufacturers need reliable tools to help them manage their customers, suppliers, shop floors, inventories, and financial operations," said Kevin Piotrowski, Infor's director of industry and product marketing for Automotive.

"By implementing an integrated ERP solution, such as TRANS4M, a company can derive significant benefits throughout its operations, from customer and supplier management to part profitability and data collection."

TRANS4M is a proven solution that specifically addresses the repetitive business rules and business processes of automotive supply companies. Features include immediate visibility of performance, work in progress, management costing, traditional shop floor execution, integrated BOMs, routings, part-number based processes, point-of-use backflushing, and pay point and non-pay point operations. TRANS4M integrates data, communication, and control for every facet of automotive manufacturing production, from production schedules to order processing, and material requirements planning to detailed lot tracking, to directly support lean initiatives.
