Geomagic Calls for Convergence 2008 Papers

Geomagic has issued a call for papers for Convergence 2008, the annual conference that unites Geomagic developers, users and technology partners to explore new applications, best practices and innovation in digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP). Convergence 2008 will be held March 4-6, 2008 in Research Triangle Park, N.C.

The previous conference, held in February, featured researchers, designers and engineers from around the world presenting papers on how Geomagic technology can be used to enable DSSP in a wide range of disciplines, including:

•  Design and engineering: creating parametric models of casting designs; digital reconstruction and CFD analysis for racing; modeling small, complex parts; design and engineering for modern weapons; new workflows for diverse industries; productivity and money-saving applications; and meeting the challenge of design anywhere/build anywhere.

•  Inspection for aerospace, electronics, molding parts, turbine and other areas.

•  Medical: orthopedic trauma research, breast surgery planning and assessment, design and fabrication of occlusal splints, and customized hearing instruments.

•  Eclectic areas such as digital furniture manufacturing, high-definition documentation for the Statue of Liberty, finite-element analysis of complex biological structures, and creating online 3D paleontology museums.

In addition to presentations, Convergence 2008 offers demonstrations of new and emerging Geomagic products, keynotes from leading industry figures, and social events that provide the opportunity to network and learn in an informal environment.
