Delcam to Host Aerospace Manufacturing's Free Machining Seminar
Delcam is to host a free seminar on aerospace machining that is being organised by Aerospace Manufacturing magazine. The seminar, which will be held at the company's Birmingham headquarters on 10th October, will cover all the aspects needed for high-efficiency, high quality machining, including machine tools, cutting tools, workholding and inspection, as well as CAM software. The programme will also include a presentation on the Supply Chains for the 21st Century (SC21) initiative by Peter Hogg, a Director of BAE Systems.
Like all other areas of manufacturing, aerospace companies and their subcontractors are under pressure to increase profitability and quality, while reducing costs and delivery times. This seminar will give a comprehensive overview of the various ways in which the latest machining developments can help meet these objectives.
"Despite the high levels of technology used, aerospace companies are essentially very conservative," commented Delcam's Marketing Manager Peter Dickin. "For example, many companies simply use the CAM system that goes with their chosen CAD software, without any consideration over how it compares in efficiency, toolpath quality or ease of use with other systems on the market."
"However, today's more competitive market means that they must be more flexible. They must apply the latest technology in every area of their operations in order to match the productivity levels now being achieved, not only across the UK but also around the world."
