Follett Corporation Freezes Out the Competition with Adept Document Management

Synergis Software, the independent software development division of Synergis Technologies, Inc., today announced that Follett Corporation, a global organization that designs and manufactures innovative ice equipment for the healthcare, food service, hospitality and supermarket industries, has adopted Adept enterprise document management software to streamline its product design-through-manufacturing processes. Follett uses Adept to track and manage all of its Autodesk Inventor product information, making it easily accessible to other departments including marketing, sales, tech service, purchasing, fabrication, and the shop floor. Since implementing Adept, the company has reduced unnecessary rework, prevented errors, and streamlined communications.

"We started using Adept in engineering and materials and, because it proved so valuable, expanded its use to the fabrication department, the shop floor, and technical services," said John Weiss, CAD Administrator at Follett Corporation. "We used to be very paper heavy here. Now, instead of going to a filing cabinet and looking for a drawing, people use Adept as the central repository where all of our documents can be found. It has become our de facto standard."

Follett is in a competitive, price sensitive market, and conscientious about keeping costs low and delivering high-quality, value-added products. Prior to Adept, Follett designers stored Inventor projects on their private hard drives, which resulted in the same nut, bolt, screw, and/or sheet metal part being modeled over and over again. Now all Inventor data is kept in one centralized database and designers have access to the latest information any time they need it. "Adept has streamlined our processes and saved us significant expense," said Weiss.
