Mentor Graphics Focuses on User Experience with Latest CHS Release

Mentor Graphics Corporation announced availability of the latest release of the CHST product suite, version 2007.1. CHS is Mentor's flagship product supporting vehicle electrical system design and wire harness engineering. Along with enhanced performance, CHS version 2007.1 focuses particularly on providing enhanced user experience.

The new release fully supports Mentor's InfoHub user advice capability. In addition to providing the normal context-sensitive help function, InfoHub allows users immediate access to extensive supporting material such as Mentor's TechNotes advice library and "how to" videos. Customers can also incorporate their own design process documentation into InfoHub.

The CHS product can be deployed into multiple operating environments (Windows, Unix and Linux). At version 2007.1 the software is supplied with standard Windows look and feel together with re-designed icons. This provides a familiar, intuitive environment for new users. The previous Java Metal look and feel can optionally be selected.

The CHS product version 2007.1 delivers major performance improvements together with many additional ease of use enhancements. For example, multiple signal / wire connections can now be implemented via a single user action. Memory management is also improved, simplifying IT demands.

The CHS product version 2007.1 also delivers important new functionality across the entire toolset. For example Capital Integrator, CHS's powerful automated system integration tool, now supports multiple design engineers working concurrently resulting in increased productivity and organizational flexibility.

Nick Smith, product marketing director for Mentor's Integrated Electrical Systems Division, said, "Many new customers are deploying CHS tools around the world, so to provide the best possible user experience we have invested significant resources to enhance the user experience in CHS version 2007.1 while continuing to extend the power of CHS's functionality."
