400 WorkNC Users Attend G3 User Events

Following the announcement of WorkNC G3, Sescoi's third generation integrated CAM/CAD system, 400 users recently attended a series of events held in Germany and across the USA, which also marked Sescoi's 20th anniversary. Participants included representatives from major automotive manufacturers as well as some of Sescoi's industry partners.

WorkNC users learned about the new single ergonomic interface which combines design, analysis, machining and verification into one environment. Apart from the increased ease of use provided by the new user interface, advantages for the customer include easier and faster toolpath editing, new curve creation and modification facilities, and the ability to continue manipulating the part while toolpath calculations are progressing.

Sescoi took the opportunity to demonstrate the new cutterpaths in WorkNC G3, which provide tool and holder collision avoidance. It also showed advanced functions such as the automatic machining of flat surfaces, trochoidal keyway cutting, and the new Z-Level Finishing algorithm, which generates a far more fluid tool trajectory. Advanced WorkNC users were particularly interested in the developments in 5-axis machining, with new cutterpaths dedicated to the machining of blades and impellers. Enhancements to Auto 5 were also well received. These allow additional control over the tool's movement by means of a guide surface.

The user events provided an opportunity for users to exchange ideas and learn new techniques, such as the most productive way to use plunge roughing, and when to use trochoidal toolpaths.

During the event in Frankfurt, Sescoi Germany announced the winner of its 'WorkNC Innovation Award'. In a project protected by a confidentiality agreement, FOBOHA GmbH achieved overall time savings of 80% in the program preparation and milling of a component with complex undercut features.

Jeff Jaje, Sescoi U.S. Marketing & Business Development Manager, said of the U.S. events held across Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, "Participants were highly enthusiastic about G3 and asking how soon they could migrate..."
