TSMC Qualifies Magma's Quartz RC Extraction Technology Files for 65-nm, 90-nm and 0.13-micron Designs

Magma Design Automation Inc . announced that TSMC has qualified QuartzT RC extraction technology files for 65-nanometer (nm), 90-nm and 0.13-micron designs. With Quartz RC and the Magma Blast and TalusT RTL-to-GDSII systems, designers can address new variables prevalent in nanometer designs to deliver the required level of accuracy. TSMC customers can access the files through the secured TSMC website if they have an account or by contacting their TSMC representative.

Quartz RC is a gate-level parasitic extractor that offers comparable accuracy to Magma's proven 3D field solver QuickCap® NX -- a key component of Magma's "Sign-off in the Loop"T ecosystem. When used in conjunction with the Magma Blast and Talus RTL-to-GDSII systems, it provides a correct-by-construction flow with accurate timing correlation between the IC implementation process and final silicon.

"Our qualification of Quartz RC technology files is in response to requests from customers using Magma software," said Kuo Wu, deputy director of design service marketing at TSMC. "Quartz RC technology gives designers qualified rules that provide the highest accuracy for Magma tools, greatly increasing prospects for silicon success."

"We're very pleased to be working with TSMC to broaden our offering of tools and technology that help mutual customers deliver better results and faster turnaround time," said Kam Kittrell, general manager of Magma's Design Implementation Business Unit.
