IFS and Tata Consultancy Services Form Alliance for Asset and Service Management

IFS is partnering with Tata Consultancy Services ( TCS ) to provide enterprise asset management (EAM) and service management to IFS clients. The alliance, which aims to generate new business in targeted industries, as well as support existing clients, has been driven by the adoption of a more agile approach in the implementation of IT projects by global enterprises.

The partnership will primarily target the project-driven manufacturing, chemicals, energy, utilities, telecom, oil and gas industries. TCS will initially focus on the US market, where strong demand is being driven by market consolidation, and by the need for greater efficiency gains in managing assets and the surrounding service cycle.

TCS - which is building a centre of excellence in Pune, India, to deliver consultancy on IFS' solutions - will provide implementation and ongoing support. This will include IT maintenance and integration, project management and reengineering.

"We have chosen to work closely with IFS and develop this joint business offering to give customers greater efficiency," said Regu Ayyaswamy, VP & Global Head, Engineering and Industrial Services (EIS) Business Unit, TCS. "IFS' investment in service-oriented architecture and component-based applications allows global companies to be agile and flexible."

"The partnership with TCS will enhance our ability to service our global customer base effectively, and provide them with a high level of support. It is also an opportunity for us to generate new business in key project-driven industries," said Alastair Sorbie, CEO of IFS. "TCS is a global company with a global network delivery model. Working with them means we'll be better able to deliver cost-effective solutions that help customers get the benefits from our component-based software as fast as possible - providing them with the agility they need in today's global economy."
