Charlie Hauck Assumes CEO Role at Bluespec
Charlie Hauck was named Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Bluespec Inc., developer of electronic system level (ESL) synthesis for control logic and complex datapaths in chip design. He succeeds Shiv Tasker, who assumes the role of chairman.
These executive-level moves were made to better align Bluespec for anticipated growth due to strong demand for its broadened product offerings. The new focus supports Bluespec's broad-based strategy to further leverage the AzureIPT Foundation Library, a family of pre-packaged and verified intellectual property (IP) and design reuse capabilities to accelerate ESL design and verification.
"Shiv and I make a good team, and our roles were modified to make better use of our skills," says Hauck, who joined Bluespec in November 2006 from Faraday Technology where he was USA general manager. "Shiv is now focused on building strategic relationships and continuing our efforts to ramp Indian operations. My IP and design services experience will help our team round out our product and services offerings."
Adds Tasker: "Charlie's background was attractive to us as we pioneered this foundation IP-based offering to accelerate the adoption of our ESL technology. With growing customer endorsements that this is the right approach, it makes sense for him to drive this strategy further and firmly establish Bluespec as the leading, broad-based supplier of ESL synthesis, including toolsets, IP and design services."
About Hauck
Hauck has more than 25 years experience in research and development, engineering, marketing and management from within the semiconductor industry. Prior to Faraday Technology, he served as vice president of Engineering at Lexra Inc., a microprocessor SIP company. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
About Tasker
Before taking the helm at Bluespec, Tasker was the president and CEO of Phase Forward, a software and service solution vendor for the data collection and management of clinical trials of new drugs and devices. Previously, he was senior vice president for Worldwide Sales, Consulting Services and Corporate Marketing at Viewlogic Systems Inc, a supplier of EDA software for Integrated Circuit and Printed Circuit Board design, now part of Mentor Graphics Corp. Tasker, who holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Bombay in Statistics and Economics.
