The MathWorks Opens Office in Beijing, China

The MathWorks announced the opening of a new office in Beijing, China that will be responsible for selling and supporting the Company's MATLAB® and Simulink ® product families throughout Mainland China.

The new office will further enable The MathWorks to provide direct support and services for technical computing and Model-Based Design to its expanding Asia Pacific user community, particularly in the automotive, consumer electronics, and academic sectors. The MathWorks will maintain its distributor relationship with HiRain Technologies, which will continue to sell and service MathWorks products to China 's aerospace and defense sector.

"China is an increasingly important market for The MathWorks. Not only does it have the world's fastest growing economy, but it is an emerging R&D center for multinational corporations and the world's largest producer of engineering graduates," said Jeanne O'Keefe, chief financial officer, The MathWorks. "The opening of the Beijing office will further strengthen The MathWorks position as the world's leading technical computing and Model-Based Design software provider. It opens up a great window of opportunity for both the Company and engineers and scientists in the Asia Pacific region."

The new Beijing location strengthens the presence of The MathWorks in the Asia Pacific region, adding to its offices in Seoul, South Korea and Sydney, Australia. The MathWorks also has direct offices in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In countries where the Company does not have a direct presence, customers continue to be served by authorized MathWorks distributors and resellers.
