ALGOR Showcases V20 and PipePak V10 at Offshore Technology Conference 2007

ALGOR, Inc. announced that it will demonstrate new ALGOR V20 and PipePak V10 software at the 39th annual Offshore Technology Conference 2007 (OTC.07) being held April 30 - May 3, 2007 at the Reliant Center in Houston, Texas. OTC.07 will bring together more than 60,000 professionals in the offshore industry fields of drilling, exploration, production and environmental protection to learn about the latest technology for meeting the world's oil and gas energy needs.

As one of more than 2,300 exhibiting companies from around the globe, ALGOR will show how its finite element analysis (FEA) software can help companies virtually test and predict real-world behavior of new and existing product designs, speed up time to market and make better, safer products at a lower cost. ALGOR FEA features a single user interface, FEMPRO, which provides direct CAD/CAE data exchange and full associativity with most CAD solid modelers. This allows engineers to choose the analysis tools they need, giving them access to ALGOR's wide range of simulation capabilities including linear and nonlinear static stress, Mechanical Event Simulation (MES) with linear and nonlinear material models, linear dynamics, steady-state and transient heat transfer, steady and unsteady fluid flow, electrostatics, fatigue, piping and full multiphysics.

ALGOR V20 features a new, faster, completely integrated CAD/FEA modeling environment, which makes working with imported CAD models or building original models easier and more efficient. V20 also features design scenarios, allowing a single FEA model to contain numerous analyses; a software wizard for creating bolts and fasteners; design studies and size optimization, which provide automated tools for achieving optimal designs based on user-supplied criteria; improved meshing capabilities; a new k-epsilon turbulence model for fluid flow analysis, which provides more accurate results and allows specification of wall roughness; and a new reinforced (rebar) concrete element and material model for easier and more realistic simulation of concrete structures.

ALGOR's latest piping design and analysis software, PipePak V10, features bi-directional associativity between its spreadsheet and graphical display window including immediate display of pipes entered via the spreadsheet. PipePak V10 also features faster and easier importing of piping models and DXF file geometry from ALGOR's single user interface, FEMPRO; local zoom capability, which provides an inset with a magnified view of part of the model; ability to select and divide pipe segments (by number of divisions or a specified length) within the graphical display window; and improved support for units during import of CAESAR II models.

"At OTC.07, attendees will see free demonstrations of how our full suite of analysis and simulation tools fits their needs including piping design and analysis, design and code compliance for offshore platforms and a wide range of structural analyses and complex multiphysics simulations," said ALGOR Product Manager, Bob Williams. "We will also be demonstrating the new features of V20 and PipePak V10 to show how they provide ALGOR users with increased power, flexibility and ease-of-use for simulating engineering analyses of their product designs."
