Delcam India Opens New Head Office in Pune
Delcam India, the local subsidiary of the UK CADCAM software specialist Delcam, opened a new head office in Pune, near Mumbai in India this week. Delcam has invested £0.5m in the new office, which comprises 12,000 square feet of space. The office will co-ordinate sales and marketing across India and undertake software development for, and provide support to, customers in the country.
The investment reflects the significant growth in sales in the region over the past few years and Delcam's expectations of continuing high growth. Over the course of 2006, software sales in India grew by 18%.
Delcam has been operating in India, selling direct to customers through its own sales force since 2000, when it opened its first branch office. The Company now operates eight offices in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ludhiana in addition to its head office and employs a total of around 50 staff. Delcam has approximately 400 customers in India, including automotive majors Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Force Motors and Maruti Udyog, component suppliers Amtek Group, Varroc and Anurang, the Footwear Design and Development Institute and the National Aerospace Laboratories, as well as leading toolmakers such as CTM India and ASB International.
At the opening ceremony, Delcam's Managing Director Hugh Humphreys commented, "India is an important market for us to focus on and our investment in our new head office reflects our commitment to building our presence in the region. We believe there is exciting growth potential and expect to maintain double digit sales growth over the next few years."
