NX, UGS' Digital Product Development Solution, Nissan's Common Design Platform to be Extended to its Affiliates

UGS Corp . announced that NXT, its digital product development solution, which Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (Nissan) selected as its common design platform, is set to be extended to Nissan affiliates. This decision, which is part of the multi-year strategic agreement announced in December 2005 and closed in 2006, will push the benefits gained through working with UGS to the next level. As part of the original agreement, Nissan selected UGS' NX as its core design platform.

NX will be used by Nissan affiliates to digitally design vehicles and parts on a global basis, and TeamcenterT, UGS' collaborative Product Development Management (cPDM) software, will be used to digitally manage product data and collaborate with Nissan.

"UGS is an important partner and the innovation they provide continues to evolve as our relationship expands" said Keigo Fukushi, general manager, Process Information Management Department, R&D Engineering Management Division, Nissan. "Nissan expects to see enhanced system efficiency by implementing common digital design and product data management platforms. We hope to see huge improvement in digitalization of affiliates."

"Nissan is a leader in the automotive industry and UGS is proud to provide the PLM technology foundation for its innovative, knowledge-enabled vehicle development process," said Tony Affuso, chairman, CEO and president of UGS. "UGS works with many of today's leading automotive OEMs and suppliers and can point specifically to PLM as a foundation in helping them achieve many of their strategic initiatives related to product innovation and responsiveness and we will bring this experience to bear for Nissan as we initiate the integration of affiliates."
