SchuF GmbH Chooses Synergis Adept PDM to Improve Time to Market for Global Valve Manufacturing
Synergis Software announced that SchuF GmbH, a manufacturer of custom-made valves, has selected Synergis Adept® as its enterprise Product Data Management (PDM) solution to achieve its corporate business goals of saving 25 percent in manufacturing time.
"With manufacturing in separate global locations, it's critical to provide the most current, up-to date information to the people who need it. We wanted to accomplish this using a single, centralized repository of data and a system that allows us to share licenses across continents and time zones," explains Brian Walsh, global IT manager for the SchuF group of companies. "We had Adept running successfully at Fetteroff, PA, with outdated, unsupported Autodesk WorkCenter systems in Ireland and Germany. Beyond that, there was no data management system in our Brazil and India locations. To achieve our business goals, we need a single integrated product data management system."
"SchuF's business challenges as a global manufacturer are not unlike the ones faced by many multi-national companies," stated Todd Cummings, vice president of Research and Development for Synergis Adept. "SchuF is under pressure to get its custom valve designs to market faster while maintaining the highest quality assurance and service. Unlike many other solutions on the market, Synergis Software offers a single source of support, multi-CAD integrations and a centralized repository that many multi-national organizations require."
Adept Fits SchuF's Data Management Requirements
SchuF needed a solution that could complement its existing investments in SQL Server and Windows Server 2003 and help overcome the company's slow WAN links.
They also needed tight integration with both AutoCAD and SolidWorks design solutions, cross-geographic collaboration, and flexible licensing. After a two year evaluation cycle, which included solutions from multiple CAD and PDM vendors, Adept was selected for its:
Ability to meet SchuF's current and future technical requirements
Developer direct relationship
Single point of support for global implementation
Success at SchuF's U.S. location
Successful WorkCenter migrations, and
Best overall value
SchuF's Goals for Adept this Year
Adept is an integral part of SchuF's 2007 business goals, including the expansion from 56 to 100 Adept users. The initial phase of implementing Adept will centralize information between Germany, Ireland and the United States. During a second phase, SchuF plans to deploy Adept to India and Brazil. Overall, the company vision is to generate 25 percent time savings within each new site or department that adopts Adept.
