CIMSystem Releases Six New Plug-ins for Rhino
CIMSystem announced the release of six new plug-ins for the NURBS 3D modeler Rhinoceros 4.0. First unveiled at the Eurostampi industry exhibition March 22 - 24, 2007 in Fiere di Parma, Italy, the six unique enhancements are now available for purchase and download from http://www.rhino-plugins.com/ .
Each of the six plug-ins - Bamboo, Rave, Drill Matrix, Mosaix, Shot, and ElectrodeX - prepare Rhino 3D models for specialty Computer-Aided Machining (CAM) operations:
BAMBOO
Completely integrated in Rhinoceros, Bamboo is an application for tool path generation with different technologies, whether WireEDM, laser cut, oxygen-flame cut, or waterjet cut. In both 2D and 3D projects, Bamboo can compute all the necessary techniques for cutting safe, quick, and efficient tool paths. Bamboo is able to generate the right tool path from your CAD projects without conversion or alteration. Bamboo interacts with Mosaix nesting software to optimize the part layout, surfaces, and project setup, all from the same window. In conjunction with the Rave module, Bamboo generates the tool path starting from a picture or a drawing with the less effort and best usability.
RAVE
Rave is the ultimate raster-to-vector converter available for Rhinoceros. Rave creates a vector file from a raster image: a photo, a sketch, a logo, etc. Rave imports a pre-digitalized image from a file, but can also import directly from the Windows Clipboard or a scanner. Rave's potentials are limitless, but most importantly, it eliminates all the boring, time-consuming tracing tasks. You'll get a project traced down in no time and better than ever.
DRILL MATRIX
A Rhinoceros plug-in to automate a series of holes arranged over a rectangular or rhombus-shaped matrix, Drill Matrix also prepares the machining operations necessary for full execution of all the holes using both the simple helix tip and a two or three-point multi-spindle head. Drill Matrix provides the user with tools to create step-by-step drilling operations. Simply select the area of intersection between parts.
MOSAIX
Mosaix is a revolutionary nesting software which provides layout optimization of 2D and 3D geometries on every kind of shape and material. Unique from other nesting products, Mosaix allows the user to exclude damaged or scratched areas (e.g. scratches on plastic surfaces, lesions of leather, wood, etc.), or keep parts of the surface for other uses. Mosaix is fully integrated in Rhinoceros, and can be used even with a basic knowledge of the program. Mosaix is an essential tool in all work with disposition and optimization.
SHOT
In addition to its specific functions for managing sole scaling, Shot offers a range of commands for drawing, modifying, and importing 2D or 3D drawings of any complexity. The combination of these two applications comes from the need to fully manage all the issues relative to the design and creation of soles' sizes, templates, welts, heel breast flaps, clamps and internal parts of soles. Shot automatically generates sole measurements starting from drawings done in other CAD/CAM systems, from a scan, or by drawing the geometries directly in Rhinoceros. Sizes are created on the preset rules or customized by the user. Shot also offers an optional module for automatic nesting. If necessary, in combination with Shot, you can use CAM SUM3D software that provides macros for the creation of tool paths for any CNC.
ELECTRODEX
ElectrodeX is a new Rhinoceros plug-in to create electrodes, in response to the demand of many Italian mold makers. Very simple controls command extraction a part of a 3D model, transforming it into an electrode already positioned for the next processing. The software can also create all the references and reports for centering and direction of the origins for EDM (Electrode Discharge Machining).
