Agile Streamlines RoHS Environmental Compliance With Support for IPC-1752 Standard

Agile Software Corporation announced that Agile Product Governance and Compliance (PG&C) supports the IPC Materials Declaration Management standard. Known as IPC-1752, the standard establishes electronic data formats and supporting standardized forms to simplify the exchange of materials declaration information across manufacturers' extended supply networks. Through support for IPC-1752, Agile PG&C will allow customers to streamline their product compliance tracking, as required by the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive.

With the July 1, 2006 deadline for RoHS compliance fast approaching, manufacturers, their partners and suppliers face increasing expense and potential product delays as they strive to document the materials composition and compliance of products using data stored in disparate formats. IPC-1752 simplifies reporting by providing a common data format for exchange of material information. Through support for IPC-1752, Agile Product Governance and Compliance enables companies to address RoHS compliance, while continuing to bring products to market quickly and maximize profitability. Support for IPC Materials Declaration Management is immediately available in Agile PG&C, version 9.2. An out-of-the-box version of the IPC-1752 format will ship with Agile PG&C, version 9.2.1 in calendar quarter 2006.

Agile Product Governance and Compliance

Agile Product Governance and Compliance is Agile's solution to help organizations manage product and program compliance against standards and regulatory requirements. With immediate and extensive supplier and regulatory information, organizations are equipped to meet environmental regulation standards, such as the Waste of Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) directive and the Restrictions of Hazardous Substance (ROHS) regulations. Using Agile PG&C, companies can:

•  Collaborate with suppliers to collect material data for supplier material declarations.

•  Manage bill of substance information and rollup compliance information using a variety of scenarios.

•  Generate an environmental view of the product to analyze it for environmental risk

•  Manage regulatory documentation and specifications.

•  Track recovery manifests and disposal certificates of destruction.

•  Manage compliance of outsourced recover partners through proactive audits and closed-loop corrective actions.

•  Leverage bill of substance adapters for Agile partners: PartMiner, i2 technologies, Avent, and Arrow -- enabling suppliers' powerful environmental standards declaration tools.

"More than two years ago, we recognized that a critical component of managing the product lifecycle was our customers' ability to address local and international environmental regulations and directives, such as WEEE and RoHS, and introduced Agile Product Governance and Compliance," said Jay Fulcher, Agile president and COO. "With support for the IPC Materials Declaration Management standard, we further extend the ability of Agile PLM to help companies to maximize product profitability, while complying with the regulatory requirements of the global market."
