Ford Motor Company Executive Joins Proficiency Board
Proficiency announced that Dr. Richard Riff, Henry Ford technical fellow at the Ford Motor Company, has joined the company's Board of Directors.
Dr. Riff is the Director of Ford's Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Digital Product Creation initiatives and Technical Fellow for Virtual Product Creation and PLM, one of five Technical Fellows at Ford. As a well-recognized industry leader, Dr. Riff brings a valued perspective on the product data integration needs of the automotive industry and will play a key role in formulating Proficiency's strategic direction.
"We are honored to have one of the world's leading authorities in the field of Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing and PLM join our Board," said Marc Dulude, Chairman of Proficiency. "Dr. Riff's broad technical expertise and his in-depth understanding of the use of product data in the automotive industry make him a significant addition to our Board. The appointment further strengthens our commitment to the automotive industry."
"I am delighted to join the Proficiency Board," said Dr. Riff. "Proficiency recognizes that product data integration between manufacturers and their suppliers requires more than exchange of geometry information. The sharing of design intelligence, including features, parameters, and manufacturing information is critical to improving the efficiency of the entire product development process. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work closely with this board and executive team to further Proficiency's vision for the future of product data integration."
As a Henry Ford Technical Fellow, Virtual Product Creation (VPC) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Dr. Riff leads a team of technical experts focused on Ford's global, enterprise-wide strategies for advanced processes, methods, information and tools/technologies within the virtual product creation (development), analysis, manufacturing and PLM domains. The role of Ford's Technical Fellows is to provide understandable, technically sound advice to the chief technical officer and to the company as a whole, influencing strategic direction on key product and process matters, contributing to corporate technical strategies, using competitive benchmarking to analyze and improve products, technologies and processes, and ensuring the transfer of knowledge across organizations and the continued growth of the company's in-house expertise.
