Pinion Software Debuts Desktop Packager v3.0 for Engineering Data Protection at the National Design Engineering Show 2006

Pinion Software, Inc., a provider of Technical Rights ManagementT (TRM) solutions for the manufacturing marketplace, announced the debut of its flagship product Pinion Desktop Packager v3.0 at the National Design Engineering Show (NDES), March 21-23, 2006, Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont (Chicago), IL. Using Pinion Desktop Packager, engineers and purchasing professionals gain and maintain constant control over how CAD data and related engineering information is used by recipients inside and outside the corporate firewall. Pinion Software sets global standards for safeguarding proprietary engineering data that is being delivered via email, CD, corporate intranet, business portals , or document management systems.

In Booth 17027, Pinion Software will feature live demonstrations of Desktop Packager, and other Pinion security products designed for small to large engineering and manufacturing companies. Pinion Desktop Packager secures high-value intellectual property during all phases of research and product development, including design collaboration, data analysis, and outsourced contract manufacturing.

How Does Pinion Desktop Packager Secure Data?

During the normal course of business, engineers share data with partners, vendors, or contractors. Pinion Desktop Packager is an easy-to-use PC-based application used to safeguard files in their native formats while the files are in-use by recipients. Supported file formats include SolidWorks eDrawings, Autodesk DWF, Adobe PDF, Microsoft Office and Project, and a broad range of other popular technical, business, and media application file types. Users of Pinion Desktop Packager can implement time-based access to files, impose an automatic shred date to self destruct files, and prevent recipients from using Cut, Copy, Paste, and Print functions, as well as screen grabber tools. Pinion's "auto shred" feature is unique to the industry, and not found in other security options. When digital files are "Pintected", CAD users instantly recognize their designs have tamper-proof protection.

Pinion Desktop Packager is ideally suited for small to mid-sized businesses, as it does not require IT infrastructure or dedicated servers. Recipients who have the freely available Pinion Receiver, an unobtrusive reader-type application, can open Pintected content. Recipients can then view and work with protected files in their native applications to the extent allowed by the permissions assigned by the content owner.

Pinion Desktop Packager Options

Pinion Desktop Packager is a single user license enabling a user to protect single technical and business files in their native format. The Pinion Desktop Packager-Workgroup Edition is a five-seat user license allowing individuals and departments to secure and share information instantly. This edition allows users to protect multiple technical, business, and media application files while they are in-use by recipients. The software can be used in stand-alone mode, or through a plug-in within Outlook or Lotus Notes.
