New Cadence ''Knowledge System'' Speeds Adoption and Customization of Incisive Plan-to-Closure Methodology
Cadence Design Systems, Inc. introduced a Web-based system that enables verification engineers to assemble and deploy the resources they need to speed adoption and customization of the Incisive® Plan-to-Closure Methodology. The new Incisive Plan-to-Closure Knowledge System is an industry first for methodology delivery, going well beyond manuals and libraries to enable widespread sharing of methodology resources, including those provided by Cadence, internal users and an external community. The system supports both design and multi-specialist enterprise teams, low-risk adoption and application of SystemVerilog, VHDL, SystemC and e languages, and processes spanning planning and transaction-level verification, assertion and coverage-driven verification, and system-level verification.
The three Web components that constitute the knowledge system -- Incisive Plan-to-Closure, My Plan-to-Closure and Community Plan-to-Closure -- enable engineers to speed adoption of industry best practices that automate the verification process and reduce adoption risks. Because it is Web based, the knowledge system is a "living" resource that will be updated regularly to incorporate the latest advances in technologies and methodologies from either Cadence or other sources.
"Verilab has used Cadence verification methodology in solving many of our clients' most complex verification challenges," said Jason Sprott, vice president, Consulting, at Verilab. "We see the Plan-to-Closure Knowledge System as a powerful component in Verilab's arsenal, helping us improve the ability of our clients' verification and design teams to share, adopt, integrate, and scale in a consistent and efficient manner."
The new system is composed of:
Incisive Plan-to-Closure -- Web space where engineers can pull from a robust set of Cadence resources that span verification planning to verification.
My Plan-to-Closure -- a secure Web space where engineers and their teams can assemble a customized set of methodology resources -- including those from Cadence, from their internal groups, or from third parties.
Community Plan-to-Closure -- a virtual forum, monitored by Cadence experts, where engineers can seek advice and share ideas and additional methodology resources that help automate the verification process.
"This is exactly the type of innovative solution that we have been looking for," said Paolo Orsatti, director of VLSI design at NemeriX. "This knowledge system will help our design and multi-specialists teams bring together in one place the key resources they need to effectively implement the Incisive Plan-to-Closure Methodology. We believe this will really simplify the process, and lead to greater productivity, predictability and quality across the entire enterprise."
The Incisive Plan-to-Closure Methodology is a mixed-language methodology that spans verification planning to closure. For design teams, the SystemVerilog-based methodology supports planning and management, assertion-based verification, testbench creation, and acceleration. For enterprise multi-specialist teams, it additionally supports advanced coverage-driven verification, and full system-level verification, including hardware-software co-verification, SystemC transaction-level modeling, transaction-based acceleration and in-circuit emulation.
In addition to the knowledge system, Cadence continues to offer personalized training and support to aid the implementation of the Incisive Plan-to-Closure Methodology.
"Our customers' challenges are complex, and they are looking beyond point tools to ensure successful verification -- and successful silicon," said Steve Glaser, vice president of marketing for Cadence's Verification Division. "With our new knowledge system, we are providing our customers proven plan-to-closure methodology and, importantly, packaging and delivering it in an innovative way that best ensures early success for their chip or system across the enterprise."
The new knowledge system is available to customers of the Cadence Incisive Design Team and Enterprise families. Incisive Plan-to-Closure and Community Plan-to-Closure are available now; My Plan-to-Closure is slated to be available in June.
