Si2 and SEMI Announce Their DFM Workshop to be Held December 13, 2005

The Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2) and the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) officially announced that they will host an all-day DFM workshop on December 13, 2005, at the SEMI headquarters in San Jose, CA. The Workshop will explore and address critical issues related to DFM, and is designed to encourage continued DFM collaboration The workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to interact with industry experts from across the supply chain and to better understand the present and future issues and challenges of semiconductor manufacturability. Presentations by invited speakers and breakout sessions will focus on DFM topics within the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS), yield, statistical design, data security, IP protection and more. Speakers include representatives from Cadence Design Systems, IBM, ILS Technology, LSI Logic, Ponte Solutions and others.

Over the last several years, the semiconductor industry has come to recognize that its economic future may very well depend on parting with old ways and integrating the two previously separate worlds of design and manufacturing. DFM issues facing the industry include reticle enhancement techniques to meet challenges of lithography, designing for yield, manufacturing variability impact on parametrics and the effect on timing and power, and design rules and process models. Each of these begs for more complete communication and collaboration between design and manufacturing however, current business practices and organizational structures also require adaptation for supply-chain players to retain a strong business advantage.

The cost is $100 for SEMI and Si2 members; $125 for non-members For more information or registration, visit http://www.semi.org or www.si2.org .

SEMI is a global industry association serving companies that provide equipment, materials and services used to manufacture semiconductors, displays, nano-scaled structures, micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and related technologies. SEMI maintains offices in Austin, Beijing, Brussels, Hsinchu, Moscow, San Jose (Calif.), Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo and Washington, D.C.

Si2 is an organization of industry-leading semiconductor, systems, EDA and manufacturing companies focused on improving the way integrated circuits are designed and manufactured in order to speed time-to market, reduce costs, and meet the challenges of sub-micron design. Si2 is positioned to enable collaboration through a strong implementation focus driven by its member companies. Si2 focuses on developing practical technology solutions to industry challenges. Si2 represents over 90 companies involved in all parts of the silicon supply chain throughout the world.
