YORK Refrigeration Systems Deploys Autodesk Manufacturing Solution to Automate Processes, Enhance Collaboration and Improve Quality

Autodesk, Inc. announced that YORK International Corporation's Refrigeration Systems Division of North America has deployed a comprehensive Autodesk manufacturing solution. YORK chose Autodesk Inventor together with Autodesk Vault, Autodesk Productstream and AutoCAD Electrical. The comprehensive Autodesk manufacturing solution enables York to create, manage and share complex industrial refrigeration equipment designs faster and more efficiently than ever before, streamlining the design to manufacture process through the tight integration and use of both 2D and 3D design applications.

YORK International, America's largest independent supplier of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, has sustained its premier supplier status by focusing on driving efficiencies throughout its business. Having been a user of AutoCAD software since the early 1990's, YORK saw the value of tight integration between 2D and 3D design information. They also knew that data management tools that could handle both would play a critical role in their desired efficiency improvements.

"Design re-use, increased automation and collaborative engineering top the list of process improvements that are helping us meet our goals, and our complete Autodesk solution is the foundation that helps make those improvements possible," said Steve Brown, manager of Pressure Vessel Engineering, Refrigeration Division of North America, YORK International. "Using our 3D tools from Autodesk, we can now complete what was taking 40 hours in about four hours, and we've increased design output between 20 and 30 percent with essentially the same engineering resources."

"Autodesk is pleased to provide a complete solution to YORK International that enables the company to embrace the richness of 3D without abandoning its existing 2D investments and resources, a benefit that only Autodesk can deliver," said Robert 'Buzz' Kross, vice president of Autodesk Manufacturing Solutions Division. "As manufacturers race to get high-quality products to market faster, they can rely on Autodesk software and services for safe, predictable results."

"The return on investment for Autodesk Inventor was better than the competition," Brown explains. "We believed Autodesk Inventor would quickly boost our productivity. Its user interface is intuitive and its learning curve is short."

YORK worked with Autodesk Consulting to implement the manufacturing solution, saving YORK at least two months of time and valuable resources. The company has embraced Autodesk's practical approach to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) with the Autodesk Vault application, enabling cross- functional teams to manage and access current 2D and 3D designs, Autodesk Productstream to automate the management of engineering changes, AutoCAD Electrical, design software that specifically creates and modifies electrical control drawings, and Autodesk's DWF design specification, YORK's preferred medium for sharing design information.

YORK International Corporation is a global provider of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R) products and services. YORK is the largest independent supplier of HVAC&R equipment in the United States and a leading competitor in the industry internationally. The company's products are sold in more than 125 countries and YORK has approximately 24,000 employees worldwide. More information is available at http://www.york.com .
