Serena Awarded $45 Million Contract from U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency

Serena Software, Inc. announced that it has been awarded two Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs) totaling over $45 million over a five-year period by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to help the agency manage its security initiatives. The agreement represents the potential for both $35 million in change and configuration management services and over $9 million in product license and maintenance revenue over the five year period.

A crucial component to successfully managing these initiatives is process compliance. The Office of Information and Technology (OIT) within CBP-a long-time customer of Serena® ChangeMan® DimensionsT, an enterprise change management solution, uses the product to support many business-critical functions and ensure that its processes for governing change meet federal audit and compliance requirements. ChangeMan Dimensions enables CBP to enforce processes across its organization, providing rigorous control and traceability over software changes. Having complete visibility into changes is essential to the agency in ensuring the quality and integrity of the numerous applications it maintains.

In addition to CBP, ChangeMan Dimensions is implemented and used extensively throughout the Department of Defense (DoD) and other civilian agencies. Many federal customers rely on ChangeMan Dimensions because it provides comprehensive process and change management functionality and supports a closed-loop process for governing change across the most distributed and complex environments. The solution also ensures that processes are enforced and repeatable, enabling government organizations to minimize risk and safeguard valuable software assets.

"Over the past few years, we've been able to increase our presence within the government market. This is largely due to the strength and reliability of our Change Governance solutions, like ChangeMan Dimensions, which have helped federal organizations manage risk, control costs and achieve several other real business benefits," said Mark Woodward, president and chief executive officer at Serena. "We're pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with CBP and look forward to working with them closely on this project."
