AVTOVAZ Continues to Supply ASKON Software to Engineering Services
AVTOVAZ, Russia's leading automotive company, supplied ASKON software to its engineering services. Within the framework of this automation stage, a little over 300 licenses of ASKON software were supplied to the plant (KOMPAS Graphic drafting and design systems, KOMPAS-3D 3D modeling systems, and KOMPAS Autoproject CAD systems for technological processes).
Automation of engineering services is part of the concept of information support of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). The of state-of-the-art software by designers and technologists allows for shorter development cycles of new automobiles, equipment and machinery for their manufacture, increased quality of blueprints and design graphics, and higher accuracy of calculations. One of the main results of automation is increased quality of the process of design and technological preparation of production facilities. Accurate and relevant engineering information becomes immediately available exactly when and where it is needed.
Vladimir Karpov, Head of the CAD Department of the Board of Technical Development (USAPR DTR) of AVTOVAZ says: "We came up with the following requirements for the mass-production CAD system: a convenient instrumental solution integrated with other CAD systems utilized at the company, a solution that would be easily adopted by the personnel, with a large set of specialized libraries and the ability to adapt it to specific needs of the various subsidiaries of AVTOVAZ. In addition, the credibility and level of acknowledgment of the developer and a reliable technical support on its part were also important to us. Only when all the above requirements were satisfied could be count on a successful adoption of the new system."

The implementation and support of supplied systems is carried out by ASKON Toliatti representative office. Maintaining relationships with the client's specialists allows for rapid adoption of new software and monitoring of the operation of existing systems.
Among ASKON's customers are many suppliers of AVTOVAZ, which significantly simplifies the processes of exchanging electronic documents. Among the conditions for implementing ASKON's software on AVTOVAZ is preliminary training of employees in the company's educational center.
