Renishaw Selects UGS Tecnomatix Digital Manufacturing Technology to Streamline its New Product Introduction Process
UGS Corp., a global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced Renishaw, the world's leading supplier of metrology and spectroscopy products, selected UGS TecnomatixT solutions to streamline its new product introduction (NPI) processes.
Renishaw will use Tecnomatix digital manufacturing software to better manage its manufacturing systems by shortening the design cycle, removing wasteful processes and reducing the number of file formats required to produce new products. UGS Tecnomatix solutions will enable a paperless production environment that will reduce error and ensure compliance with existing process requirements and new regulations, including lead-free operations guidelines.
"The real-time data collection capabilities of our UGS Tecnomatix solution will allow engineers to manage based on the most up-to-date facts," said Mike Jones, electronics engineering manager, Renishaw plc. "UGS' NPI processes and systems will also significantly improve product and part traceability and help us perform root cause analysis on any production issues more rapidly than ever before. Renishaw's selection of UGS Tecnomatix solutions complements its existing investment in both NXT software, UGS' digital product development system, and Teamcenter® software, UGS' digital lifecycle management system. The agreement includes the maintenance of UGS' eM-Assembly Expert and eM-Execution products - which include solutions for assembly planning, quality management, material management, process verification and traceability.
