Selerant Launches Composite Application from SAP Platform; DevEX for SAP Fills the Gaps of Comprehensive Creative Product Development in SAP
Selerant ( http://www.selerant.com ) announced the release of a new composite application within DevEX, its web- based Product Lifecycle Management solution. The composite application, DevEX for SAP, enables current SAP users to immediately capitalize on SAP's new strategy of opening up its architecture for customized applications.
DevEX for SAP fills in the critical gaps preventing SAP's current customers from the perfect product launch.
While individual corporations may not have the development technology, Selerant has utilized the SAP NetWeaverT platform, SAP® Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI), and SAP Enterprise Portals to essentially access DevEX's creative formulation tools in a native SAP environment.
This enables corporations to immediately optimize their SAP application with DevEX's creative formulation tools, such as Formula Optimization, Multiple Formula View with Cost and Allergen Constraints, and Master/Site Recipe Management.

Another concern crucial to profitability-regulatory compliance-has been at best a multi-step process spanning over disparate departments. DevEX equips corporations with multiple best of breed tools and practices to ensure regulatory compliance, throughout development, for defined geographic regions: nutritional labeling, ingredient statement generation, claims management, compliance to ingredient restrictions.
This focus on global markets and regulatory compliance drew one of Selerant's current customers to seek out a more unified approach with DevEX's tools and its SAP legacy system. While they could already utilize seamless integration between DevEX and SAP, they sought an even greater unified approach.
Selerant sought to create a solution within its web-based PLM application that could work behind the scenes of the SAP system to fill in the gaps of creative formulation development as well as provide immediate regulatory compliance alerts and generate required regulatory documentation by specified geographic regions. While working on-site at its client's site, Selerant began its partnership with Linx-AS, a SAP consulting firm specializing in New Product Development and Introduction (NPDI) for process-manufacturing industries.
The partnership merged the SAP-process expertise of Linx-AS with the creative functionality of DevEX's formulation development, regulatory compliance, and regulatory documentation generation tools. The formula-driven manufacturing industry can now truly have its cake and know how to make it, calculate its nutritional values, label it, and prepare it for distribution.
