PTC/User World Events: CAD Schroer to Showcase Powerful Drafting Plug-in and Legacy Data Management Solution for Pro/ENGINEER®
At PTC/User world events in Denmark, France and Germany this October, Pro/ENGINEER users will find out how to maximize the value of existing and third party designs, and add powerful drafting functionality to Pro/ENGINEER for impressive productivity gains.
Between October 20th and 28th, PTC® Gold Software Partner CAD Schroer GmbH (CSG) will be demonstrating the latest release of STHENO/PROT.
"STHENO/PRO addresses the needs of all stakeholders in a Pro/E-centric environment," explains Mark Simpson, CAD Schroer's PLM, "While most PTC customers have a firm 3D strategy, they inevitably need to maintain and augment existing 2D data - often in paper or legacy formats. Designers often supplement Pro/DETAIL with legacy drafting packages to maintain and edit older designs. STHENO/PRO replaces the need for this two-tiered approach by working hand-in-glove with Pro/E."
STHENO/PRO, which runs as a plug-in for Pro/ENGINEER, fully integrated with Pro/DETAIL® and Pro/INTRALINK® (with optional Windchill® integration), can deal with data in diverse formats. Its most popular module, STHENO/IMAGET, allows users to import stored paper drawings or other non-CAD data in the form of a raster image for use and storage with the current design, making the most out of existing data. STHENO/PRO allows for the quick and easy creation and editing of things like 2D concepts, layouts and tender designs, as well as 2D adaptations of Pro/DETAIL® sheets for product designs, technical manuals, and installation designs.
STHENO/PRO supports concurrent engineering, providing a design environment which allows drafting professionals to work the way they are used to, while at the same time replicating a familiar Pro/ENGINEER user interface. It offers on-site mark-up of, and remote access to, designs, and is multi-platform ready, running on SUN Solaris, HP-UX and Windows-essential for today's flexible systems strategies.
Version 2 of STHENO/PRO, due to be released in the next few weeks, promises some ground-breaking new functionality in the Advanced package. With SMART Edit, for example, CAD Schroer now provides an intuitive, mouse or numerical entry-driven tool design editing tool, which delivers results quickly and accurately by providing "parametrics on demand"-intelligently deducing existing geometric relationships during editing operations of newly-created, existing, and even imported data. It's just one of the many new productivity tools on show this month.
Cost savings can come easily: STHENO/PRO allows Pro/E customers to shelve legacy 2D systems; reduce training times while using their design resource more flexibly; significantly speed up the work of project teams; and lower administration costs, while raising data quality and consistency through the use of a single homogeneous database-all within the context of CAD Schroer's trademark commitment to superior customer service, and platform-independent solutions.
"This is not a 2D versus 3D debate," says Founding Director, Michael Schroer, "STHENO/PRO simply speaks to the realities in today's engineering world. The resulting significant productivity gains have captured the imagination of Pro/E customers throughout the world. As we introduce the latest release, we look forward to the feedback from Europe's engineers, who are key to the product's direction."
The CAD Schroer team will be on-hand at these PTC/User events: Paris, France (20 October); Friedrichshafen, Germany ( 23-25 October ); Copenhagen, Denmark ( 27-28 October ). No suitable event near you?
CAD Schroer's next English-language STHENO/PRO Webcast will take place on 8 November 2005 .
