Si2 Announces the Seventh OpenAccess Conference with Speakers and Demonstrations from Leading Semiconductor and EDA Companies

The Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2) announced that its seventh OpenAccess Conference will be held on November 10 2005, at SEMI headquarters in San Jose, California.

The Conference will feature speakers and demonstrations from several of the industry's leading semiconductor and electronic-design automation (EDA) companies, including AMI Semiconductor, Applied Materials, Cadence Design Systems, Cadence Berkeley Labs, CiraNova, Gradient, IBM, LSI Logic, Mentor Graphics, National Semiconductor, Philips Semiconductor, Silicon Navigator, NC State University, and UC Berkeley.

The featured keynote speaker is Chekib Akrout, vice president of Design Systems, responsible for Design Flows and Methodologies, Differentiating Tool Development, Libraries, Memories/IP, and IT Services at Freescale Semiconductor, who will be addressing the business implications of OpenAccess.

The 7th OpenAccess Conference will provide the latest information on this open platform for creating interoperable EDA tools and flows. The OpenAccess API continues to grow in prominence and adoption in the EDA industry and among end-users, Synopsys being the most prominent among the recent adopters. Updates and enhancements to the platform, defined by the OpenAccess Change Team and developed by Cadence, have continued to be delivered at their scheduled quarterly pace through Si2's web portal.

As will be evident from the program and the presenters, there will be new faces on the podium who will present on their engagement with OpenAccess. There will be presentations on new approaches and new avenues of OpenAccess deployment. There will be ample opportunities through the panels, Q&A's and break periods to engage with the presenters and other attendees so that all can gain in knowledge and know-how on ways to enhance their adoption. Some of the papers will show how the work being done within the OpenAccess Coalition creates synergy with the other coalitions within Si2. Finally, there will be a number of companies who will be providing real-life evidence of the value of OpenAccess through demonstrations of their tools on the OpenAccess reference implementation.

The OpenAccess Coalition is a community-driven initiative formed to enable the creation of tightly integrated flows involving best-in-class commercial and proprietary tools and intellectual property (IP), necessary to support design of today's complex chips. This is done through an open-standard data-access interface (API) and reference database implementation supporting that API. Leading electronics companies with significant investment in CAD tools and infrastructure, as well as many commercial electronic-design automation (EDA) tool providers, have embraced the OpenAccess initiative as a means to support rapid product development. The OpenAccess Coalition operates under the governance and bylaws of Si2.

Si2 is an organization of industry-leading semiconductor, systems, EDA and manufacturing companies focused on improving the way integrated circuits are designed and manufactured in order to speed time-to market, reduce costs, and meet the challenges of sub-micron design. Si2 represents over 85 companies involved in all parts of the silicon supply chain throughout the world. For more information about OpenAccess and Si2, visit http://www.si2.org .
