eSERV Selects PTC® Windchill® To Strengthen Engineering Services Offering

PTC announced that eServ, a product engineering services provider and long time PTC Pro/ENGINEER® customer, is using PTC Windchill PDMLinkT, Windchill ProjectLinkT and ProductViewT as the product development system to support collaboration and data management with its customers. eServ provides manufacturing companies a cost-effective way to extend their product engineering capabilities with a flexible outsourced model.   eServ is expanding its use of PTC Windchill solutions to connect geographically dispersed engineering design teams.

Facing the pressure to reduce costs, increase productivity and encourage innovation, companies around the world have begun to extend their product development teams with outsourced engineering services. eServ, headquartered in Peoria, Illinois, began serving local manufacturing companies and has since grown to provide services to customers around the world from its U.S.-based locations. Working with multiple customers at distributed sites requires eServ to tightly manage the product development process while optimizing collaboration between design teams. eServ selected Windchill to meet this critical need and help manufacturers extend the design and engineering process without increasing the cost of labor and the associated overhead. Optimizing the product development process translates to more value per dollar spent while also improving time and cost pressures.

PTC's product development system is well-suited to solve the challenge of distributed product development. By adding Windchill solutions, including ProductView, to their current implementation of Pro/ENGINEER, eServ can manage the configurations and versions of Pro/ENGINEER® models and provide viewing access to their customers and partners for review and markup. The system provides real-time global access to critical product and process information through a Web-native portal with embedded 3D visualization for view and markup, enterprise search, and document management for products and standard parts libraries. Specifically, Pro/ENGINEER is used by eServ to create complete digital representations of their products. Windchill PDMLink provides product information control (mechanical, electrical, and software content, as well as document management), configuration management, and a robust workflow engine for automating change management tasks. Windchill ProjectLink provides project plan management, distributed team collaboration, and process templates for design reviews, new product introductions, quality and bid response. All of these capabilities are delivered in an integral, cohesive system, which translates into faster return on investment, lower risk, and lower total cost of ownership for customers.

Customers currently engaging with eServ include Caterpillar, John Deere, Harley Davidson, Whirlpool and General Dynamics American Truck Company, Terex Corporation, Oshkosh Truck, US Military, Federal Signal, Case New Holland (CNH), Allsteel and others. eServ plans to use Windchill to support their ongoing engineering projects with these companies.

"PTC's product development system is key to addressing the global product development challenges we face," said James Richmond, CEO, eServ. "Windchill is an innovative solution that enables us to offer organizations the opportunity to securely extend their engineering design teams without moving off-shore, which some of our customers prefer not to do, or cannot do, for regulatory reasons."

"Today's challenging global environment creates increased need for a product development system that provides distributed teams with the appropriate content and integrates them into the product development process," said, Anil Chitkara, vice president, Global Product Development strategy, PTC. "eServ is using Windchill solutions to connect their engineering team with their customer's team in order to harness the talents and energy of the entire group. As a result, both teams are aligned and moving forward with the same goal in mind - getting the product out to the consumer in the shortest time possible."

eServ provides product engineering services that enable leading Fortune 1000 manufacturing companies to discover new ways to maximize their engineering function. eServ has extensive experience in providing cost-effective engineering solutions designed to meet specific product development requirements.
