Ameron International Selects Synergis Adept Engineering Data Management and Achieves 50 Percent Increase in Productivity

Synergis Software announced that leading concrete poles manufacturer Ameron International has selected Synergis Adept® engineering document management (EDM) to help improve product engineering and fast track its industry certification processes. Since implementing Synergis Adept document management with Autodesk Inventor® and AutoCAD® design software, Ameron engineers have realized major productivity improvements, including managing, measuring and improving product development operations. The Adept implementation also facilitated Ameron International's ( http://www.ameronpoles.com ) ISO industry certification and total quality management programs, and is now instrumental in helping the company meet Sarbanes Oxley requirements.

"I estimate we are at least 50 percent more productive in design and engineering as a result of our utilization of Adept," said Mark Luna, a senior engineer for the concrete pole product division of Ameron International, whose products are sold primarily to utilities, city lighting and public works agencies, electrical distributors, architects, and developers.

"We were able to install, bring in all of our old drawing files, set up our 'library cards' and implement the solution in two days, and most of that time was spent deciding upon our own internal data fields and the manner of our library usage. My belief is that in engineering time alone, we broke even within a few months and continue to achieve returns by way of efficiency and increased productivity," said Luna.

Ameron is already extending the value of its Synergis Adept system outside of its engineering department to purchasing, customer service and its internal certification coordinators. "The software is becoming increasingly appealing to even more divisions and departments at Ameron," said Luna. "We are looking forward to expanding our use of Adept throughout the organization."
