Cadence Announces Best Overall Paper Presented at CDNLive!

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. announced the papers and presentations from the CDNLive! Silicon Valley user conference that have been recognized for their excellence. The best overall conference presentation-chosen by the Cadence Designer Network steering committee-was "IBIS Generation and Validation Methodology Using Spectre MDL," which was submitted and presented by Rom Bronfman of Saifun Semiconductors Ltd.

The three-day technical conference ran Sept. 12-14 at the Santa Clara Convention Center and Westin Santa Clara hotel. It was sponsored by Cadence® and hosted by the Cadence Designer Network, a user community established earlier this year.

"I was very impressed with what I saw at the CDNLive! conference," said Yoshio Inoue, senior manager of the EDA System Development department at Renesas, who spoke at a press conference held on the first day of the event. "Cadence has created a strong technical forum for interacting with its customers to discuss today's design challenges."

More than 200 abstracts were submitted, and 83 were selected for presentation at the conference, which drew more than 550 attendees. The presentations spanned a wide spectrum of design disciplines.

Attendees at large selected best papers and presentations for individual tracks. Those presenters and papers recognized for excellence were:

•  Salem Emara, ATI Technologies, "Formal Analysis Using IFV (Incisive®   Formal Verifier) for PCI Express Validation"

•  Todd Westerhoff, Cisco Systems, Inc., "Things You Can Learn from an IBIS Model"

•  Paul Bompastore, Texas Instruments, "Analog Design Collaboration and Configuration Management"

•  Justin Coleman, Micron Technology, "De-Mystifying the CDF: A PCELL Developer's Guide to Better Interfaces and Easier-to-Use PCELLs"

•  Chris Byham, Philips Semiconductors, "Bigger, Smaller, Higher, Lower, Faster"

•  Chang Suh, IBM, "ASIC Optimization and Design Strategy for Multi-Vt Devices"

"The quality of the papers and presentations are testament to the success of our customer-led steering committee in establishing a top-notch technical conference for all Cadence customers," said Cadence President and CEO Mike Fister. "Our goal from the start was to create a forum where customers and Cadence technologists could come together to discuss the significant challenges facing today's design community. I applaud the hundreds of Cadence customers who helped make this happen, and I'm already looking forward to next year's conference."

CDNLive! user conferences will be held in Japan, China and Taiwan during November, with the European event planned for February.
