IFS in the UAE to Deliver IFS Applications To New Petrochemical Plant
IFS' Middle East office has signed an agreement with a Greenfield petrochemical plant that will produce ethylene gas and polyethylene plastics. The contract includes consulting services and licenses related to IFS Applications components for maintenance, manufacturing, supply chain management, financials, and human resource management. The value of the contract is US $3.8 million.
The plant is in project phase with the primary focus on construction. The first manufacturing unit is expected to be in commercial operation by mid-2006. As with most large-volume, capital-intensive operations, output and reliability are the dominant determinants of profitability, and the selected ERP system is seen as critical in supporting the operations.
The process industry is one of IFS' seven targeted markets. IFS provides industry-specific functionality for enterprises in chemicals, food and beverage, pulp and paper, and metals segments. IFS Applications for the process industry provides a complete asset and product lifecycle management solution along with support for all critical business processes, including batch balancing, recipe management, quality management, and demand planning. IFS customers in the process industry include DuPont, Pepsi, Iams, XSYS Print Solutions, Willamette Valley Company, Akzo Nobel, Becker Industrial Coatings, SSAB, V&S Absolut Spirits, Hutmen, Jotun, SICPA, Stora Enso and SCA.
