Manitoba School Divisions to Benefit from Province-Wide Pricing Agreement for Open Text's FirstClass Solution

Open TextT Corporation announced that its FirstClass Division has entered into a software licensing and pricing agreement with the Province of Manitoba. The agreement will make the FirstClass Division's collaboration and communications software for learning organizations readily available at a standard negotiated price to school divisions throughout the province.

Open Text entered into the agreement with the Manitoba Education Research and Learning Information Networks (MERLIN), a facilitating body of the Department of Energy, Science and Technology. MERLIN's licensing and purchasing services, on a province-wide basis, help lower costs for hardware and software products and also help provide economies of scale for all school divisions. The agreement will provide all school divisions in Manitoba with standardized pricing for FirstClass licenses, making the solution even more affordable to smaller learning communities.

Open Text's FirstClass delivers a platform independent, cost-effective and feature-rich software solution that enables academic organizations to create collaborative online learning communities that connect students, faculty, and administrators via any Internet-accessible device. FirstClass delivers a broad range of features including email, calendaring, instant messaging, collaboration and document sharing, web publishing and unified messaging. The solution is deployed in more than 2000 academic institutions and has more than eight million users worldwide.
