Spatial and AC&E Boost Visualization Software Performance for Manufacturing Simulation

Spatial Corp., a Dassault Systemes company, and provider of 3D components, and Applied Computing and Engineering Ltd. (AC&E) announced AC&E's commitment to use Spatial's 3D ACIS Modeler and InterOp translator products as an integral part of their simulation suite of programs for robotics, machining and quality inspection.

AC&E manufacturing simulation software is used within the aerospace/defense, power generation and automotive sectors as well as other important engineering markets. Customers include Boeing, Airbus, Nissan, ABB, Comau, AMEC, PSA, Daimler Chrysler and Ingersoll.

"We know our users expect the best performance from our software products, and we can achieve this in a partnership with Spatial," said Yash Khandhia, Technical Development Director, for AC&E. "The robustness of the software components and the ability to easily incorporate new features are high on our priority list. Spatial is in tune with this thinking, and we are pleased to have developed a closer rapport with them, which is important as we prepare to introduce our Hub products to the engineering market."

"AC&E is an example of what Spatial components can provide to applications targeting the simulation, robotics and CMM markets," said Ray Bagley, 3D Modeling Product Manager, Spatial. "AC&E has worked diligently to deliver to market applications that meet a specific need with uncompromising quality and Spatial is pleased to be a part of their solution."

About AC&E's Softmachines applications

AC&E's specific group of software products have developed and advanced over time and are rigorously tested by customers who demand both capability and quality. This is particularly true for Softmachines applications, which verify programs before they are implemented, revising the programs by trapping and eliminating errors due to potential collisions and other inefficiencies.

Another Softmachine application, CMMsimulator, also benefits from the underlying graphics performance available from working with ACIS and is also a verification simulation product targeting the market of Metrology. CMMsimilator emulates, via software, real CMM machines and calculates positions and times as would the actual CMM machines. A third area where AC&E's software has consistently performed at a high level is the E-Hub (Engineering-Hub) simulation software for robot simulations and for linking with other simulation systems.

Khandhia added: "We aim to offer fast productive simulation software which can perform with accuracy, and stay close to the application so that users feel at home in using the software. Simulation is becoming essential for manufacturers who want to remain competitive. The speed and accuracy with which (the simulations) can be produced has a dramatic effect upon their cost effectiveness and success in use,"

Spatial develops, markets, and supports best-of-breed 3D component technologies and services, to address the requirements of 3D in Business-to-Business (B2B) applications. Spatial's components for 3D modeling, visualization, and interoperability have been adopted by some of the world's most recognized software developers, manufacturers, research institutes, and universities. Headquartered in Westminster, Colorado, Spatial has offices in the USA, Germany, France, Japan, China and the United Kingdom.
