Grain Millers Change Over Their Mills To Use Infor

A mill stands at the point of intersection between nature and process, the requirements for the production of flour are correspondingly complex - and Grain Millers have with corresponding care made their choice on an ERP system. The medium-sized milling group made up of the three family businesses of Rolandmühle from Bremen, the Heyl-Mühlen and Mills United, Hovestadt & Münstermann, will implement Infor ERP for Process and Infor Global Financials as a cross-company solution.

With the Infor implementation, the three companies further optimize their processes-since 2004 they have already gained experience of collaboration in the areas of purchasing, marketing and product development, in order to deliver customer specific quality flour nationwide. Grain Millers have a combined annual total milling of over one million tons of wheat and rye and a turnover of 250 million euros. With the consolidation of the systems onto a common ERP solution the decisive measure has been taken for the consistent development of synergy effects between the individual locations.

Infor's strong industry focus convinced the three companies regarding their choice-Infor ERP for Process has many important functions for mills integrated as standard. Amongst these are, for example, cereal bills with suppliers, batch tracking and formulation oriented management as well as the mapping of mixed batches, which is necessary for the filling of silos with flour from different batches. Moreover these traditional companies felt well advised by the Infor employees - Infor could show project experience with different batch and formulation oriented process manufacturing, which had been asked about in the appraisal visits.

"For a business group working as a network, high availability of information from the group is important for optimal leadership. Each of the three family businesses had different software systems and processes, this made an integrated linkup of the data more difficult. Additionally, a system change offered the opportunity to optimally represent the new complex requirements into the processes e.g. with regards to traceability", said Berend Erling, member of the management team of Grain Millers. "Infor was our first choice - Infor ERP for Process has many functions as a standard which are indispensable for our business. On top of this, the Infor employees impressed us with their professional work in the pre-project time."
