ICCAD-2005 Conference Showcases Advances in Integrated Circuit and Systems Design Technology

The International Conference on Computer-Aided Design (ICCAD-2005) will be held from November 6-10, 2005, at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, California. ICCAD is a premier scientific conference for showcasing the latest advances in electronic design technology and automation. The four-day show targets IC design engineers, computer-aided design professionals and electronic design automation (EDA) tool users. It offers CAD researchers and IC designers the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas regarding nanometer design problems and solutions for everything from manufacturing and circuit issues to system-level design.

ICCAD includes a technical program with paper presentations, workshops, vendor information, tutorials and panels highlighting the latest research, issues and developments in the areas of EDA, integrated circuits and system design. A Sunday workshop presents new approaches to nanoscale computing, followed by a panel and evening reception. The conference begins on Monday with a keynote address from H. Peter Hofstee, cell chief scientist and cell synergistic processor chief architect at IBM Systems and Technology Group in Austin, Texas. On Monday evening, a six-member panel will explore challenges and address possible solutions to nanometer era chip design. Steve Teig, President and CEO of Tabula, Inc. in Santa Clara, California, delivers the keynote address on Wednesday.

A series of technical sessions run Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, followed by a set of tutorials presented on Thursday, November 10. For relaxed discussions and networking, there are social hours every evening beginning Sunday and running through Wednesday.

Multiple side events complement the technical program and enhance the ICCAD activities. On Sunday, two-person teams of CAD graduate students can participate in an all-day CADathlon programming competition. Contestants can win trophies and cash prizes when they are tested on CAD knowledge, problem solving, programming, and teamwork skills. On Tuesday, the Technology Fair is an opportunity for companies to present their current EDA products and technologies, along with previews of future technologies. Attendees and exhibitors can also make new contacts for future networking and development.

Conference registration can be completed at the ICCAD web site ( http://www.iccad.com ). Early registration rates are good through October 7, 2005.
